GBR-Rail has also redesigned the way in which the train wash system operates, with the introduction of water treatment which works by re-using the waste water in the main wash section with fresh water being used for chemical mixing and the final rinse.

Water treatment can be incorporated into new plant and retrofit applications and with estimated cost savings of up to 60% it can provide a payback period of as little as two years, whilst also providing an environmentally responsible solution to modern rail depots.
